Mumbai, meri jaan.

I have been in the capital for almost a year now. Even now I argue quite animatedly when it comes to the national capital vs. financial capital of the country. One thing I must admit is that one who lives in Mumbai can live anywhere in the world, peacefully. My time at Noida, I have observed many Biggies not fitting to the hostel life, even though it's pretty lavish to say the least. Mumbai teaches you to fit with the Biggies without disregarding the Smallies.
I love this place. Mumbai, a place where rentals are higher than the price of life; a place where tragedy happens and life resumes next day, not because of 'The Spirit' but competition; a place where bias is prevalent for jobs, education and general life; a place known for the shiny Bollywood; a place where every Indian wants to visit once in his/her lifetime. Yeh hai Mumbai meri Jaan.

The Lost Legend.

Captured at PURANA QILA in Old Delhi.

The Dusky Wing.

Today, I fly
without fear or sorrow.
The sun knows this
and spreads love on my wings.
With love and passion,
I fly.

Today, I fly
with an ambition.
For mortals, it is unacceptable
but I am determined.
My mind, my aim, my euphoria
when they tell me
I fly.

Window of tomorrow.

Open those windows
Let the rays of hope come in
No barriers obstructing their flow
Breathe the air of freedom
Leave the doors to your heart ajar
The fences removed
The veils withdrawn
Hold those hands that come in through
Welcome that neighbor
Because he too has been bruised
He too has lost, has cried and killed
For wars and bloodshed in absurdity
So be joined for a cause
A smile, a hope, maybe a human life
Let the divine light of love enter
So, the weeds of hatred feeding on the past
will wither in gold, and shine..

Snake Eyes.

Captured at Kunder Moolsthana, Hejmadi, Udupi. The deity worshiped here is the snake Cobra. According to the Mythology, during the Parushuram yug, the origin of different sects of the same caste/religion was via the birth of the 'Nagdevta' for each sect [like Kunder, Puthran, Amin, Kotian, Karkera etc] and the generations from the original Nagdevta turned into the present human form.

So every year, people from the Udupi and Mangalore districts keep a meet where these "Points of Origin" are honored.

During these meets, there is are many rituals to be followed. Then an elderly priests worships the Deity after which the Deity enters the head priests body[i am a rational thinker, though i do not believe in all these, information should be passed].
The deity loves the buds of the Areca nut plant. So all the devotees see to it they place it in front of the deity.
It takes about 2-3 hours for the whole priest event. By the priest event i mean about the Deity entering and exiting the priest body.
The head priests then talks to the people who organize the meet. Then people who have certain problems come to the Deity and ask for solutions.

Then there is a ritual of donating certain things like rice, coconuts etc which is equal to their body weight.

A 'pooja' is held in the adjacent room where they make a Rangoli of the deity. It's called 'Aslesha Bali'.

The priests then give away the offerings called 'Tanu Tambila' and after all is done the devotees go to the lunch hall.

With the completion of Lunch, the event comes to an end. Though reading is Fun for some, i feel experiencing all this is a totally unique thing :)

PS: This is the 'Kshetra-rakshak' of the Kunder-Moolsthana temple.
